Auditing

The Auditing practice, together with the Accounting practice, form the core of the firm since they serve as the platform for the identification of any client needs which can best be served by the other specialist units in the LDP group.

Personnel

The Auditing Centre houses more than 30 trainee accountants and 6 audit managers, all of whom report to the responsible group of 5 directors.

Functions of the Auditing Centre

Responsibilities of this division include the following

  • completion of clients’ yearly audits (GAAS)
  • set-up of financial statements (GAAP) and
  • completion of tax returns.

Audits are performed in accordance with the “International Standards on Auditing”, as dictated by the South African Independent Regulatory Board for Auditors (IRBA).

An ongoing training programme, in conjunction with lecturers at the University of Stellenbosch, ensures that personnel in the auditing division are kept up to date with the latest developments in their field.

Ranging into the Food industry?
One of the largest suppliers of quality food products in South Africa approached LDP to design an auditing programme to ensure that products sold under the “Free Range” lable, in fact do justice to that claim.  This is a new trend in food safety and the programmes for eggs and chickens are already in place.  Ducks will follow shortly and it not far-fetched that the system will be extended to include all products sold under the “Free Range” lable.
